Suspended MDC-T official confiscates party cars over salary arrears

Suspended MDC-T Bulawayo provincial administrator, Nkululeko Ndlovu, last week confiscated keys of four Isuzu trucks belonging to the party over three months' salary arrears.
This comes at a time when scores of party members who were MDC-T polling agents in the July 31 harmonised elections last year were up in arms with the political organisation for failing to pay them for their services.
Ndlovu, who was suspended in October last year over allegations of misappropriation of $5 000 belonging to his employer, MDC-T, told The Zimbabwe Mail on Friday that the party owed him allowances for three months before his suspension, as well as salaries for September, October and part of November 2013.
"Even though they suspended me for abuse of funds, they have not taken any legal action against me because they know that if they raise the issue a lot of people would be found wanting.
"Up to now they haven't paid some of the polling agents after the July elections," said Ndlovu.
He, however, did not disclose how much he was owed by the party.
Some of constituencies affected by the non-payment of polling agents include Bulawayo East and Central, Mpopoma, Luveve, Nkulumane and Pumula.
Sources said the party provincial officials were scheduled to meet party members who were polling agents to try and resolve the issue.
MDC-T had a clean sweep in Bulawayo in the elections.
Contacted for comment yesterday, the party's provincial spokesperson, Mandla Sibanda, confirmed the developments.
"Yes he (Ndlovu) is in possession of the keys, but we should be getting them back soon.
"As for the polling agents, yes there are some who have not been paid and efforts are being made to resolve that," he said
Last month the suspended provincial administrator lost a case at the Bulawayo magistrates' court in which he alleged that the MDC-T Bulawayo South Member of Parliament, Eddie Cross had insulted him when the two had a heated debate over allegations of abuse of funds during the election period.
He has, however, threatened to sue Cross in the civil court over the alleged insults.
