Artificial hips craze hits Bulawayo

It has suddenly become "curvaceous women galore" on Bulawayo streets thanks to artificial hips and bums that are selling for as little as $17 a pair.

Women interviewed yesterday said the much sought after hour glass figure was only a few dollars away.

"This product has done wonders for my confidence. Everywhere I go, men cannot resist me. I am very beautiful but I was cursed with a European's behind. It is flat. The artificial bums are just what I needed to complete myself," said the woman.

A number of men however said being in a relationship with a woman whose artificial hips attracted you to her in the first place, was immoral on the part of the woman.

"I would not hesitate to beat up such a woman because they would be taking me for a ride. I8 hate these artificial women who expect to get real men with their fake hips, eyelashes and tons of make-up," said Xolani Banda.

An official at Esats in Bulawayo, that sells the hips, said the product was often out of stock as demand was high.

"We started selling the artificial bums in January and we have run out of stock three times. More than 400 units have been sold. The stuff, if properly worn, looks very real. It has none of the side effects that people who use dangerous chemicals to enhance their shapes suffer," said the official.

A 60-year-old woman who bought the hips said she felt like a teenager.

"I often catch younger men staring at me in awe, lust and disbelief. More men are flirting with me after I introduced more curves on my body. I do not know what it is about men and curves. It is like the whole universe ends for them when they see a bootylicious woman," quipped the woman.
