Police officers assault suspect to death

Two police officers, Proud Moyo and Mavis Matema from Sauerstown Station in Bulawayo who tortured a suspect to death appeared in court yesterday charged with murder.

The two were assigned to investigate a malicious damage to property case that involved five suspects including the deceased, Samson Ncube aged 20.

Moyo and Matema allegedly took turns to assault Ncube with a fan belt and a baton stick.

Ncube was found dead in a garden at his family home in Richmond.

A post-mortem was conducted and results showed that Ncube had died from a head injury caused by assault.
