A state controlled Bulawayo based tabloid newspaper this week exposed a local shop which sells adult videos disguised as "CD/DVD cleaners".
According to B-Metro they received a number of calls from customers who had bought the "CD/DVD cleaner" from the shop situated along 6th Avenue in the CBD.
Reporters from the newspaper went to the shop and bought two of the CDs and one of them was filled with adult material.
But upon returning to the shop, the shop manager, a Nyoni, just laughed it off.
"Hehehehehehehe this is what is in the cleaner? It's very interesting," he said.
But pressed to give a decent explanation or better refer the reporters to the shop owner, the manager lost his temper.
"Why do you want to see her? You bought this so what?" he said.
He then said: "We just buy these things from China. lt is not up to us to check what is in them," he said.
Having blocked all avenues to contact the owner of the shop, one of the employees said they had imported about 4 000 of the CD cleaners that are sold at a $1 for two.
The one bought by B-Metro reporters involves women sleeping with dogs.
The 45 minutes long disk starts with a promo whereby a woman plays with a German shepherd dog.
One of the people who bought the CDs, a popular socialite Terminator Makoni, said he used the cleaner in front of his children and was embarrassed."
"I got home to clean the DVD for my kids. To everyone's surprise, it turned out to be p*rn. Then I asked myself what the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe and any other organisation and lobby group such as AAG should do to such shops," he said.
When B-Metro tried to understand how p*rn managed to find its way into the shop, the employees said: "Go and write whatever you want. We don't even care"
Makoni says he wants to see what the law will do in such a situation.
