Police hunt dangerous armed robber

Police in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for a Nkulumane man believed to be part of a gang that pounced on Rumrich Supermarket in Nkulumane on 7 December last year.

Mduduzi Gumbo (31) whose last known address is 27 08 Nkulumane has been evading police since he was implicated in investigations into the robbery.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday issued a statement warning members of the public not to try to effect a citizen's arrest on the suspect, saying he was armed, dangerous and likely to shoot when cornered.

He said anyone who had information about his whereabouts should contact the officer in charge Central Investigations Department (CID) Homicide Bulawayo, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Mpofu on 09- 71568 0713 254 081.

Alternatively, Insp Moyo said they could call the case investigating officer Detective Assistant Inspector Tirivamwe Matsika on 0772 742 886 or contact any nearest police station.

He said on the day in question,  some suspects approached the complainant at Rumrich Supermarket and produced firearms before demanding cash.

"We have strong suspicion that Mduduzi could have been one of the suspects, hence our need to interview him" said Insp Moyo
