BCC to honour Mpofu

The Bulawayo City Council will on Wednesday hold a special meeting in honour of Alderman Charles Mpofu who died after a freak accident in the city on Sunday.

Bulawayo Mayor Martin Moyo is among a number of speakers who will make speeches at the event.

THE LATE ALDERMAN CHARLES MPOFU: SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL: WEDNESDAY, 5TH MARCH 2014 AT 11:30 AM: COUNCIL CHAMBER MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS

By direction of the Mayor (Councillor M K Moyo) a Special Meeting of the Council will be held on Wednesday, 5th March 2014 at 11:30 in the Council Chamber to pay tribute to the late Alderman Charles Mpofu.

Details of the programme will be as follows:

1) Mayoral Procession led by Mace Bearer: Enters Council Chamber

2) Opening Prayer by:  Pastor Mhlanga - Mayor's Chaplain

3) His Worship the Mayor (Councillor M.K. Moyo) to announce purpose of the Special meeting and thereafter to read the obituary.

4) His Worship the Mayor to call members to stand and observe a minute's silence in honour of Alderman Charles Mpofu.

5) Testimonies/Remarks by former colleagues Mayors, Aldermen, Councillors, former Town Clerks etc.

6) Closing Remarks by the Mayor

7) Closing Prayer

8) End of Special Council meeting

9) Departure for the funeral service at Brethren In Christ Church, Nketa
