Prophet claims he can produce miracle airtime and Zesa cash power

FROM miracle weight loss, miracle money through to miracle babies, Zimbabweans have heard it all as attention-seeking "prophets" compete to grow their churches.
Now, a little-known "prophet" from Bulawayo's Nketa 6 suburb claims he has performed a miracle by paying off his congregants' energy bills.
Not only that, Pastor Dennis Hungwe is claiming to have topped up airtime on the mobile phones of his followers at the Sunday service of his Tabernacle of Faith Church.
On a visit to the church yesterday, our news crew sat through a mid-week service and was allowed to interview congregants at the end.
Sipho Ncube, who was in church last Sunday, said: "Our pastor began to pray and suddenly our airtime was topped up.
"The most shocking part was when he instructed us to scratch our foreheads carefully and then read the airtime recharge number. We successfully reloaded the number and got $1 airtime each."
The congregants said Hungwe told them that if the devil could give his followers riches, so could God.
"The devil can give his agents cars and houses, God can give his children riches too," exclaimed one worshipper.
Others expressed disappointment, saying they missed the "blessings" because they had left their cellphones at home. "The person who was sitting next to me was instructed to scratch her forehead, the pastor read out the digits and she recharged successfully," said one woman, who asked not to be named.
Patience Hove claimed Hungwe had also mysteriously recharged worshippers' Zesa pre-paid meters.
"People got home to discover that meters had been recharged. I can confirm that one of our members received more than $100 and the other $72," she told Chronicle.
Another congregant, a South African resident who gave her name only as Mai Jose, said she had been healed from a womb problem after Hungwe prayed for her.
"Thank you pastor for the prayer, I'm healed," she said. "I was supposed to go for an operation to remove my womb but doctors told me that they would not perform the operation because my womb was now clean."
Hungwe said: "I don't perform these miracles, but God does. I can't explain what I do, but I can tell you that I see these digits in the spirit and children of God can recharge."
He said his work was grounded on the scriptures and quoted Isaiah 55 v 1 which says: "Come all you who are thirsty…and you who have no money, come and buy and eat, buy wine and milk without money and without cost."
He said believers do not need money because there is nothing impossible with God. He, however, said people should not come to church only for miracles.
Hungwe also claimed he had power to change the sex of a child in its mother's womb.
"There's this woman who had a baby girl in her womb but wanted a baby boy. I prayed for her and the girl changed into a boy," he said.
