A BULAWAYO-based police officer was yesterday arraigned before a court for allegedly breaking into a fellow cop's room and stealing a laptop.
Joel Marime, 31 of Fairbridge Camp reportedly stole the laptop in the absence of Victor Banga and sold it for $130.
Marime appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa and was charged with theft and unlawful entry.
Prosecuting, Caroline Matanga told the court that on Friday, Marime unlawfully entered Banga's unlocked room since Banga had left the camp for town. Marime then spotted a Dell laptop on the bed and stole it.
He later sold it for $130 to Kenneth Muchadenyika. When Banga returned he discovered that his laptop was missing and investigations led him to Muchadenyika who said he had bought the computer from Marime.
Marime was remanded out of custody to today.
