Boiler explodes killing one

A worker at Drive shaft Center in Bulawayo has died after a boiler exploded and ripped into him, leaving his intestines protruding.
Claudius Makumbe died from severe injuries sustained during the blast at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) soon after 1 pm.
His friends said the boiler exploded sending a cylinder weighing about 10 kg hurtling into Makumbe.
The cylinder went out through the roof of the workshop and crashed onto the Ok Mart, formerly Makro) rooftop about 200 metres away.
His boss, Ludwick Masvinyangwa (45) told Bulawayo24 News that the boiler destroyed a wall in the workshop and showed the news crew a pool of blood where Makumbe was reportedly standing when the cylinder hit him.
Pieces of flesh were still hanging from the roof where the cylinder exited.
Flesh left hanging on the workshop roof.
National Social Security Authority (NSSA) inspectors said the cylinder that caused the damage looked like it was makeshift.
"A boiler works under so much pressure and everything has to be properly set-up with genuine parts anything less can be extremely dangerous. This boiler seems to have been using parts that were not genuine," said the official.
Acting police spokesperson for Bulawayo Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
"Police attended a scene at the Driveshaft Centre where a worker was injured in an explosion. We are carrying out investigations to determine the cause," said Asst Insp Ncube.
