The Principal Nursing Officer for Ingutsheni Hospital Mr Davison Ntini died tragically on Wednesday morning in a road accident.
Rather scratchy reports from work mates indicate that Ntini died in a head on collision when a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction veered off the road and hit head on with his car. Exact details of the accident are however still being received.
Ingutsheni Hospital is the country's largest mental health referral hospital housing the largest number of mental health patients in the country. Ntini is credited with unwavering service to the hospital albeit with severe drug shortages which make it very dangerous for staff to work as some patients turn violent when they lack medication.
Members of staff talked to however claim that, regardless of the difficult and dangerous conditions in the hospital, Ntini managed to keep staff members grouped together and willing to work. The members also claim that Ntini had an ability of relating with patients that very few people can ever have and will be missed at the hospital.
"We have lost a huge figure in the hospital, one who would stand in any gap and cover it and we work without realising things were not so right. He will be missed by both staff and patients at the hospital," said one of the staff members.
Details of his burial and other funeral arrangements have not been made available as family elders could not be reached at the time of press.
Ntini will indeed be missed by the Bulawayo community which he has served so diligently over years. May his soul rest in peace.
