A Bulawayo viciously stabbed his wife seven times and left her intestines hanging out.
Vusumuzi Thusi (49) of 9008 Robert Sinyoka Village on the outskirts of Pumula suburb, left his wife Siphiwe Ndlovu (48) for dead in a brutal attack in which he used two knives on Friday night.
He allegedly attacked her because she had walked out on him citing repeated abuse.
Police are hunting Thusi, a security guard at Guards Alert, who disappeared after the horrendous attack.
Ndlovu who has five children with Thusi is recovering at Mpilo Central Hospital.
She told reporters Thusi used to tell her she was an uneducated old woman who was hindering him from progressing in life.
"In January I finally walked out after realizing that he would never stop abusing me. He followed me to mys sister's house in Old Pumula and begged me to return. When I refused, he ambushed me on Friday and stabbed me four times in the stomach, on my arms and legs. He left me with my intestines protruding. I am lucky to be alive," said Ndlovu.
She was picked by the roadside by a motorist who took her to hospital.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo confirmed the incident and said police would not rest until Thusi was behind bars.
He urged residents to desist from using violence to solve disputes.
