Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Obert Mpofu Sunday said he was now fit and will be resuming his ministerial duties following reports in the media that he had missed state functions due to sickness.
Mpofu said he and his entourage were down with fever after returning from a meeting in West Africa.
"After a trip to Equatorial Guinea about two weeks ago where there was a meeting of African Union ministers of Transport, I and aides in the ministry came back with flue. I don't know whether it was change of weather, so I was off sick. But I am now fine and will be back in the office," Mpofu said
Media reports had said that Mpofu had missed three major functions last week that included his ministry's Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) cocktail, the official opening of the ZITF and a donation to accident victims in his Umguza constituency.
A meeting of ministers and delegated authorities responsible for transportation from the African Union Member States converged for the Third Session of the African Union Conference of African Ministers of Transport (CAMTIII), which kicked off on April 10 2014, at Sipopo, Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The meeting ran under the theme Speeding-up Transport Program Delivery for Facilitating Africa's Economic Growth.
CAMTIII aims to take stock of the progress made to-date and determine the way forward for the new measures to accelerate the development of transport infrastructure and services in Africa.
