Bulawayo takes delivery of new maintenance equipment

Bulawayo has taken delivery of six brand new ride-on lawn mowers and twelve brush cutters.
The equipment is a donation from the German Government and will be add to Bulawayo's depleted parks maintenance equipment.
Presenting the equipment was Deputy Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr P. Primus, in a colourful ceremony attended by Mayor P. T. Moyo, Town Clerk, Milton Nyoni, ZDDT's NDO, Simon Spooner, City Councillors and Officials, besides invited guests from business, civic society and members of the public.
Resplendent in bright orange safety wear, (also a gift from the German Government), were City Parks employees, representing the work contingent, that will participate in the next phase of the greening campaign being jointly conducted in the City by ZDDT and the Local Authority.
The equipment that was presented will be operated by the same work force.
Relief agency GIZ, cooperating with the German Government, are the programme's financial supporters.
In his key note speech, Cllr. Moyo noted the City's growing relationship, through the Trust, with Germany and hoped that this would be strengthened.
He expressed gratitude to all those responsible for the occasion's success.
During his presentation speech, Deputy Ambassador, Mr P Primus, alluded to the Local Authority's renowned reputation for the professional approach it employs when conducting its work, adding that he was confident that the City Council would be a responsible custodian of the equipment.
Second phase of the ZDDT initiated greening campaign, involves restoration of Bulawayo's parks utilising the donated equipment and later, the installation of cutting edge lighting technology along two of the City's major thoroughfares.
