A 33-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo woman stunned the court when she revealed that she had been impregnated by her lover's boss, leading to the termination of their relationship. Moreen Zinyemba appeared before magistrate Tinashe Tashaya facing charges of malicious damage to property and theft.
Prosecuting, Carrington Dhliwayo told the court how in a fit of rage Zinyemba damaged property worth $676 after her ex-boyfriend Terrence Mazerenganwa ended the relationship.
"On May 4, at about 10AM Zinyemba broke into Mazerenganwa's house at 68 Reading House in Raylton. In his absence, she threw his 21 inch television on the floor, poured water on his laptop, radio and CD player. She also broke room divider glasses, a Telecel line and cut the codes of his laptop speakers," said Dhliwayo.
Zinyemba is also alleged to have stolen a Samsung E250, a laptop adaptor, DVD player, four T-shirts, two jean trousers, a duvet cover, a leather jacket, groceries and $55 which she converted to her own use.
Zinyemba pleaded not guilty to both charges.
In her defence, she told the court that Mazerenganwa was trying to fix her after she was impregnated by his boss.
"We were in a relationship for four years and we recently separated after he found out that the child I am carrying is not his. He is seeking revenge because he found out that I was having an affair with his boss," said Zinyemba.
Magistrate Tashaya remanded Zinyemba in custody and the trial commences on May 22.
