TWO soldiers based at HQ One Brigade in Bulawayo got into a no holds barred brawl after discovering that their children were in a relationship.

Their wives joined in and one of the women sunk her teeth into the testicles of her husband's opponent after realising he was on the losing end of the punch-up.

So intense was the fight that one of the soldiers had an ear cut off while the other lost a finger.

Lameck Mandaza, 53, set upon Charles Mushayabvudzi, 46 after the latter assaulted his son for being in a relationship with his daughter.

Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya heard how their wives Christine Mushayabvudzi and Espina Mandaza joined in the brawl which ensued when the couples met to discuss their children's love affair.

An emotional Espina allegedly jumped on Christina and started slapping her while pulling her hair and scratching her.

Prosecuting, Carrington Dhliwayo said Mushayabvudzi tried to break up the cat fight but in the process grabbed Mandaza's wife in a way that angered him.

Mandaza used his combat tactics to "neutralise" Mushayabvudzi.
Mandaza realising that he was being overpowered, allegedly bit off a chunk of Mushayabvudzi's ear.

In retaliation Mushayabvudzi bit off Mandaza's finger and grabbed his testicles.

The warring women broke up their fight when they heard Mandaza's wail of agony.

Espina rushed to her husband's rescue by grabbing Mushayabvudzi's testicles and biting them.

Christine also sunk her teeth into Espina's stomach to force to let go of her husband's genitals.

A crowd of neighbours who rushed in to break up the deadlock found the men almost passed out.

Espina and Mandaza faced assault charges in court.

Espina was remanded out of custody and her trial continues on 23 May while Mandaza was remanded out of custody for continuation of trial today.
