HIGHLANDERS and national team midfielder Peter "Rio" Moyo was caught offside yesterday when his estranged girlfriend dragged him to the maintenance court.
Moyo however, staged a disappearing act and only resurfaced after court proceedings.
The footballer's girlfriend, Gracious Sibanda had to appear in court alone as Moyo was nowhere to be seen.
Quizzed by magistrate Victor Mpofu as to why she came alone, a surprised Sibanda said that Moyo just disappeared.
"I'm not sure where he is. We were together the whole morning waiting to be served. He told me he wanted to relieve himself and would be back soon," she said.
Moyo later resurfaced and enquired from Sibanda what had transpired during his absence.
The couple then drove off in his car.
Sibanda was demanding $100 for the upkeep of their child, Simphiwe Rio Moyo.
She however, could not produce a return of service slip that proves Moyo was notified to appear in court.
As a result, the matter would be heard at a later date.
The Bosso playmaker is no stranger to controversy. Last month, he was arrested for driving without a driver's licence while on his way to the team's training session.
He was stopped near Mzilikazi suburb on his way to training
