A ROBBER from Bulawayo's Hillcrest suburb allegedly held a family hostage and forced family members to watch as he forced a woman in the house to touch his manhood while he inserted his fingers in her privates.
Mvelo Sibanda, 37 appeared in court recently facing a count of robbery and indecent assault.
Sibanda allegedly teamed up with four other men who are still on the run and raided the Messenger of Court offices at 132 Robert Mugabe Way and got away with $15,576.
Prosecuting, Alondolozwe Sitsha told the court that the gang armed with iron bars, held a family hostage as they robbed the premises.
"On May 17 at about 2AM Sibanda and four other men armed themselves with iron bars. They cut the security fence at the back of the premises and entered the yard. They confronted Tedias Dembudzo, a cleaner, doubling as a security guard and Sibanda struck him on the head.
"They force-marched him, his son Mabhande Dembudzo, his wife, Roseline Ncube and three children into a room where Sibanda stood guard. The other men proceeded to the main offices, broke a window and stole $15,576," said Sitsha.
He also told the court that Sibanda indecently assaulted Ncube as her family members stood helplessly.
"As the other men broke into the main offices, Sibanda held family members hostage in a room. He in full view of Ncube's father-in-law, husband and three children, forced her to touch his penis while he put his fingers into her private parts," he said.
After the disgusting and barbaric act, Sibanda then wenched the door from outside, locking his victims inside before disappearing into the dark.
A report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
Magistrate Sibongile Msipa remanded Sibanda in custody to June 6 for trial.
