The Zimbabwe Republic Police say they are still carrying out investigations following Friday's violence by members of the Johane Masowe Chishanu sect in Harare's Budiriro suburb with the perpetrators set to face charges of assault and inciting public violence.
The ZRP say six members of the apostolic sect have so far been arrested.
ZRP Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said police has intensified investigations to establish perpetrators of Friday's violence and assured the public that the law will take its course.
"We have deployed more personnel to investigate the matter and to bring perpetrators of violence to book. So far we are still questioning the six members who were arrested on Friday," said Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba.
Members of the Budiriro 2-based Johane Masowe Chishanu sect led by Madzibaba Ishmael ran amok and attacked police officials, a ZBC cameraperson, journalists and officials from the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe.
Violence broke out when members of the sect were informed that their church had been banned.
The sect is accused of abusing women and girls as well as preventing children from attending school.
