Zimbabwe Express Airlines founder has died

EVANS Ndebele, the founder of Zimbabwe's first black-owned commercial airline, Zimbabwe Express Airlines, has died, he was 52.
He died in South Africa last Saturday from a kidney ailment, family spokesman, Wesley Ndebele said.
"After a dialysis sessions at about 3PM last Saturday, he started complaining that he was failing to breathe properly," said family spokesman.
"The doctor was contacted and upon arrival tried to take him to Johannesburg hospital, but it was a bit far and he died on the way."
Evans, younger brother of the former Speaker of Parliament Cyril Ndebele and former Attorney General Sobuza-Gula Ndebele, was ZAPU's resource mobilisation committee chairman and running a thriving horticultural business on his farm near Gweru.
Ndebele founded the Zimbabwe Express Airlines in August 1995, servicing domestic routes as well as flights between Harare and Johannesburg. The airline was grounded in February 1999 after suffering viability problems.
He has been holding meeting in South Africa over plans to revive the airline.
