A high powered delegation led by Acting President John Nkomo has toured the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo which is undergoing the final stages of refurbishment.
Nkomo's tour was aimed at assessing progress made so far on one of government's biggest investments in Bulawayo.
Speaking after the tour, Nkomo said the name of the airport is most appropriate considering that the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo frequently used the airport.
He said what is left for Zimbabweans is to market the country as a peaceful and attractive destination.
Speaking at the same occasion, Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development Minister, Nicholas Goche said apart from the billions of Zimbabwean dollars spent on the airport, government has spent an additional US$36 million on the project which has taken 9 years to complete due to financial constraints.
Acting President Nkomo was accompanied by Minister Goche and Governors and Resident Ministers of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province and Matabeleland South Province, Cain Mathema and Angeline Masuku among others.
