Former Highlanders player Lincoln Siwela who had a recent brush with the law is living in near destitution.

Siwela appeared in court facing charges of indecent assault after forcefully kissing a shop attendant at a Bulawayo shop.

This publication has established that the former Bosso player has fallen on hard times selling passport covers outside the Bulawayo registry offices.

"Siwela is now selling passport covers here to make a living," said a vendor outside the registry offices.

"It is sad that football players do not have a fall back plan, it is embarrassing that a player from such a big institution can live like a destitute."

Efforts to get a comment from Siwela were  fruitless as his mobile phone rang without being answered.
