The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has expressed concern over the increase in domestic violence which has lead to a spike in murder cases countrywide.
Police revealed that the increase in murder cases in the country was a result of unresolved disputes between spouses degenerating into fighting while in other cases parents are accused of using dangerous weapons in disciplining their children.
According to the police, between January and May this year, 219 murder cases were recorded.
"This total disregard for the sanctity of life by some members of our society is worrisome to the ZRP. We appeal to members of the public to always seek assistance from the police, counsellors and community leaders in order to resolve their disputes amicably," said a police spokesperson.
