The Bulawayo province Zanu PF Women's League has thrown its weight behind the candidature of the First Lady, Grace Mugabe for the position of the Women's League Secretary to be held in December.

This came out at the Bulawayo province Women's League elections for members of the National Executive Committee held at Davies Hall in the city.
Seven candidates had initially qualified for the polls but Sikhululekile Ngwenya and Mervis Mudoti withdrew from the race leaving Eunice Sandi Moyo, Judith Ncube, Esnath Moyo, Annah Moyo and Rosie Phiri to battle it out for the four posts.
Sandi Moyo who is also the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Bulawayo, Ncube and Esnath Moyo were nominated unopposed.
Phiri and Annah Moyo had to battle it out for the remaining seat and Phiri emerged the winner with a resounding victory of 97 votes against Moyo's 35.
The elections were presided over by the national consultative member Catherine Masuku.
The party's Women's League will hold its National Congress from the 12th to the 15th of this month in Harare.
