HARVEST House International Church will next week hold its annual Apostolic and Prophetic Conference at which founder Apostle Colin Nyathi will be consecrated as bishop.
The conference will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Hall 4 in Bulawayo from August 25 to 31. The event will also see the hosting of a business seminar and a gospel concert.
Expected to grace the conference are various speakers from around the world, including Bishop Tudor Bismark from Jabula New Life Ministries in Zimbabwe, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills from Lighthouse Chapel in Ghana, Prophet Brent Douglas from Encounter Christian Centre in New Zealand and Bishop Chimwemwe Chiwaka from Bible Life Ministries in Botswana.
Renowned South African development strategist Dr Dumisani Magadlela is expected to speak at the business seminar which seeks to highlight as well as find ways of addressing Zimbabwe's economic challenges.
Businesspeople from around the country are expected to attend, free of charge.
The conference will also see possibly for the first time in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa the ordination of 26 reverends in a Pentecostal church on August 30.
"These men and women are being officially set aside for the leadership of various hubs and on Sunday (August 30) Apostle Colin Nyathi, the founder and senior pastor of Harvest House International Churches will be consecrated as a Bishop in a full ceremony that will be presided over by Bishop Heward-Mills.
"The bishop will put on the full regalia of robe, purple shirt, white collar, gown, cap and sword. This, however, does not mean that Harvest House International Church is changing doctrinally, but that with a growing number of churches which stand at over 220, there has to be a symbolic leadership structure to consolidate that growth. With over 1,000 churches targeted by 2020, certainly such a structure readies the church for the future increase in its branches," said Elder Philip Phiri, an official from the church.
The conference, as has been the norm over the years, will close with a concert dubbed the "Clash of Choirs Concert."
"This again is a first for Zimbabwe as Harvest House International Church pioneers a new concept. This concept is aimed at grooming our own choirs as well as developing their music careers. The winners will get a whopping $10,000 while the second and third place winners will get $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
"We'll encourage the winners to invest this prize money into developing their music careers as a choir. This event will be graced by Lindelani Mkhize (of Joyous Celebration) and Pastor Charles Charamba who will be coming in strictly to be adjudicators of this musical contest.
"Pride-Priestly Nengere from the Jabula Ministries music department will also help in the adjudication process. The concert will be $5 per person. Limited tickets have been printed and are already on sale at Harvest House International Church," said Elder Phiri.
