Khupe driver robbery case still on

The case of Witness Dube, the driver of MDC-T vice-president Thokozani Khupe, and his colleague, Kunashe Muchemwa (32) an MDC-T youth league member charged with robbery and assault has been transferred to the Bulawayo Regional Court for trial.
Dube of Gwabalanda and Muchemwa of Old Luveve in Bulawayo are out of custody on $200 bail each.
Magistrate Gladmore Mushove transferred the case to the Regional court where magistrate Mark Dzira is expected to hear the case on August 28.
Dube and Muchemwa are accused of allegedly being part of a group of party youths who hijacked and assaulted the driver of ousted MDC-T Matabeleland North chairperson Sengezo Tshabangu and his passengers.
Witnesses who include, driver of the hijacked vehicle Lameck Ndlovu, Zaccaria Nkomo and Sage Mguni, Sengezo Tshabangu and Detective Sergeant Patrice Nyanhete of the Criminal Investigations Department Law and Order have been lined up to testify once the trial kicks off.
It is alleged that on May 25 at 1pm Ndlovu was driving the said vehicle when two vehicles blocked him.
Dube and six accomplices who are still at large, allegedly disembarked and pulled Ndlovu out of the vehicle before assaulting him. Dube allegedly searched Ndlovu and took a cellphone, $300 and car keys before driving off with the vehicle.
Ndlovu made a report to the police and Dube was later arrested.
