A man who swindled several companies in Bulawayo of thousands of dollars after posturing as a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) employee, returns to court today seeking bail.
Naison Kuzamba, 36, of Bellevue in Bulawayo stands accused of duping several companies of more than $14 000.
Kuzamba was not asked to plead when he appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa facing seven counts of fraud.
The magistrate remanded him in custody to today where he is expected to make a ruling on his bail application.
Kuzamba who wore a uniform similar to that of Zimra officials, on October 29, 2012 approached Victor Bravo, the director of Meat Supplies where he allegedly demanded that he settle the full amount the company owed Zimra in value added tax.
Bravo is said to have handed over $2 000 to Bravo who promised to come back later in the day for the outstanding balance.
In the same period Kuzamba approached Bellevue Service Station and misrepresented to the garage owner Stephen Tshuma that he was a Zimra official seconded from the Harare office to audit Bulawayo companies.
The complainant however denied the accused permission to carry out the said audit arguing that his company was under Judicial Management.
Kuzamba then threatened to shut down the Service Station if his demands were not met. This forced the complainant to fork out $50 to stop the closure.
Other companies that Kuzamba targeted include Trish Boutique, Agri Auctions, Tony Bee Trading and Auto Electrics Techs.
On August 26, police received tip off and proceeded to Jason Moyo street where Kuzamba was apprehended.
A total of $14 924 was not recovered.
