Form 3 pupil gives birth in school toilet

Lessons stopped at Bulawayo's Sobukhazi High School as pupils rushed to catch a glimpse of a form three pupil who gave birth at the school toilets.
The 17-year-old pupil (name withheld), who is an orphan, was allegedly able to hide from everyone including her grandmother whom she lives with.
She was rushed was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital, bleeding heavily.
Pupils told Bulawayo24 News no one suspected the girl was pregnant because she has a big body and was reserved.
"She is not close to anyone and because of her big body, she was able to hide the pregnancy by wearing a loose jersey," said one of the pupils.
The girl tried to hide her new born son behind the toilet but was caught when teachers heard the baby crying.
Teachers spent the better part of yesterday afternoon trying to force pupils to return to class when excitement built up in the school as news of the birth spread.
Relatives said they suspected the baby's father could be a herd boy in Nkayi, her rural home.
The headmaster of the school, which is located in Mzilikazi suburb, declined to comment.
Mpilo Central Hospital's Clinical director Dr Wedu Ndebele confirmed he had heard about the case but said he had no details.
