Eric Bloc laid to rest at Athlone

Prominent economic commentator and former adviser to the Reserve Bank Governor Dr Eric Bloc has been buried at Athlone Cemetery in Bulawayo.
Scores of people from across the political, religious and corporate world thronged the Jewish section of the Athlone Cemetery in NorthEnd, Bulawayo to pay their last respects to the prominent economic commentator.
Dr Bloch died at his home in Khumalo, Bulawayo on Saturday night.
Former Reserve Bank Governor Dr Gideon Gono who was amongst the mourners and worked with the late Bloch at the central bank described him as a pillar of strength and economic think tank.
Mayor of Bulawayo Councillor Martin Moyo said the life of the late Dr Bloch was one well-lived and will be cherished by generations to come.
Family spokesperson and son to the late Dr Bloch, Mark, said his father was a generous man who always strived to inspire the lives of others in a positive way.
Members of the corporate world said they worked well with the late Bloch who was always optimistic that industries across the country would be revived and operate at full capacity again.
The late Dr Bloch was born on the 2nd of April 1939 in Johannesburg, South Africa and later relocated to Bulawayo as a child with his parents.
He was a chartered accountant and is survived by four children and 16 grandchildren.
