BCC, Zinwa headed for a clash

Bulawayo City Council and the Zinwa are headed for a slowdown following concerns by the local authority that it is getting a raw deal from the utility which is charging it for water from dams which the council built.

According to the latest council minutes, BCC and Zinwa have been resulted in residents going without water for long periods last month.

During a recent meeting of the future water supplies committee, Mayor Martin Moyo said it was ironic that after taking over the city's supply dams Zinwa was now charging council for the raw water from dams that were built by the local authority.

In terms of the Water Act, all water belongs to the state.
