ZANU PF politburo member Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu has sensationally dismissed media reports that he had abandoned his bid to contest for the vice presidency post in Zanu PF to pave way for his nemesis Simon Khaya Moyo who is a front runner for the second top post which was left vacant by the death of John Landa Nkomo last year.

Yesterday we reported that Zanu PF big wigs in Matabeleland have endorsed Simon Khaya Moyo to assume the vice presidency ahead of Ndlovu, Kembo Mohadi and Mphekezela Mphoko who are also top aspirants of the VP post.

A daily paper yesterday reported that senior Zanu PF officials in Matabeleland including Ndlovu had endorsed Simon Khaya Moyo during a meeting at Davis Hall the party's headquarters in Bulawayo.

But in an interview with Bulawayo24 News today, Ndlovu dismissed reports as 'absolute lies' saying he was still up for the VP race.

"Those are lies," Ndlovu said. "We never had a meeting which endorsed Khaya Moyo for the VP post," he said.

"As I have said before I am in for the race and as the president (Mugabe) has made it clear that the VP post is up for grabs during our December congress, I will also submit my curriculum vitae as an aspirant.

"No one has the right in the party to run a 'secret' congress before the main congress to endorse an individual," Ndlovu fumed.

"The meeting which you are talking about is non-existent and all positions are still up for grabs," Ndlovu charged.

Ndlovu has publicly declared his interest in the VP post and has clearly said his nemesis in the race are junior to him but analysts have dismissed any chances of Ndlovu landing the post saying he lacks the political stamina to occupy the position.

The race which is title contested by three members who hail from Matabeleland is likely to end in a photo shoot should all aspirants maintain their interests until the party's do or die December congress.
