BULAWAYO - THE pirate taxi driver who allegedly caused the death of a traffic cop last week, after he dragged him for about 100 metres, as he tried to arrest him for loading passengers at an undesignated point, was yesterday arraigned before the courts, facing a murder charge.
Farai Zimunya, who appeared calm with his hands cuffed behind his back, arrived in court accompanied by three detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department's homicide section.
He was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa.
He was remanded in custody to October 27 and was advised to apply to the High Court for bail.
Zimunya told the court that he was sorry for the death of the police officer Godsave Chingwe who was buried on Friday at his rural home.
