Cash-strapped Bulawayo City Council has flighted tenders to sublet some of its infrastructure to interested Bulawayo residents with the hope of ensuring capacity utilisation and thereby turning around the fortunes of the local authority.

Some of the properties advertised to be let out to the public include women's clubs in high density suburbs such as Pumula, Mabutweni, Luveve, Sizinda and Magwegwe while beer halls namely Magwegwe, Elangeni, Greenspan, MaNdebele, Sizinda and Njube bottle store are also on offer.

Contacted for comment Bulawayo mayor Martin Moyo said some of the properties being tendered had become vacant as previous leaseholders disappeared from the premises after finding them unprofitable.
