Bulawayo City Council's commercial undertaking, Ingwebu Breweries, is reportedly on the brink of collapse due to corruption and a bloated but inept management which costs the company $2.4 million in salaries and allowances annually.

Institutionalized corruption and nepotism are among a litany of other scandals including another that led to a manager committing suicide after being exposed years after he commenced a fraud scheme.

The company, whose opaque beer, Indlovu is a household name in Matebeleland and Midlands, is fast losing its status to a rival company as it is reportedly failing to distribute its product within the region.
