A BULAWAYO man took a prostitute to a prophet's house in Makokoba suburb for sex, a court heard yesterday.
Pedzisai Magama, 25, allegedly raped the woman, 24, whom he met at Royal Club along Lobengula Street after she refused to render sexual favours before payment on August 31 this year.
He appeared before regional Magistrate Trynos Utahwashe and pleaded not guilty to rape and assault charges.
Testifying in court yesterday the woman told the court that she was able to identify Magama's home as it had a big flag at the gate symbolising that there is a prophet resident there.
She said Magama took extra blankets and undressed in preparation for their sexual liaison at the prophet's home.
"He told me that he stays with an uncle who is a prominent prophet in Makokoba and although I got to his home late at night, I was able to trace the house in the morning after making a police report. This man asked for sexual favours at a fee of $15 but wanted to force me to engage in sex before payment," said the woman.
"When we got into his room he undressed and started being violent and that's when I decided I was no longer interested in engaging in sex with him. I left his home at around 3AM and he followed me and raped me beside a public toilet."
In his defence Magama said he released the woman when she refused to have sex before payment.
"When we got home she changed her mind and said she wanted to leave. I led her to the door and slept and was surprised when police came and arrested me for raping her," he said.
Magistrate Utahwashe remanded Magama in custody to today for judgment.
Prosecuting, Robin Mukura told the court that on August 31, Magama met the woman at the night club and requested to have sex with her.
She charged him $15.
They left the club at 3AM and headed to Magama's residence in Makokoba. On arrival, Magama failed to pay resulting in the woman withdrawing her consent.
She started walking towards Luveve Road where she intended to get transport to Entumbane where she resides, the court heard. Magama followed and caught up with her and claimed he wanted to escort her to the nearest bus stop.
On their way Magama told her that they should go back to Royal Club.
He then grabbed her by her jean trousers and force-marched her into the nearby Makokoba Farmers' Market toilet where he allegedly raped her.
