An opportunity to tell your own story

EVERY story always has far reaching effects when it is told by communities in their own voice, images and music of their choice.

The story of Matabeleland has not yet been told in a way which inhabitants desire as most of the stories covered by the mainstream media projects a bad image about the region. While one of the primary roles of the media is to create a nexus between communication and development, the effects of stories covered by the public media are more often than not motivated by profit and not development.

Against this milieu, Bulawayo24 seeks to give citizens of Matabeleland to tell their own stories in their own way. Through this project we will document development initiatives and also profile people who have contributed immensely to community development through arts, sports, culture, business and social entrepreneurship.

We therefore seek to partner with all our valued readers in pioneering a platform for development communication – where people share their experiences – that adds value to the development of Matabeleland as a region whose history is checkered by underdevelopment and marginalization.

Those with pictures, music and voices that tell a story can share with us. And those who have a community project that requires coverage can also invite us.

Perhaps in our quest to give you twenty hour news coverage we have missed something. So help document take a leap and highlight the little or big things we may have missed through community voices.
