Vendor kills man over $5

A BULAWAYO man was murdered last Tuesday for allegedly asking for loose money from a vendor.

Sources claimed Nhlanhla Moyo breathed his last after he was allegedly struck with an iron bar on the forehead and head by Siqaliso Siwela, a vendor, for denying him change. The incident happened at the Lobengula Street vending area.

Narrating the ordeal to B-Metro a source who requested anonymity said on the fateful day Moyo asked for a change of $5 from Siwela. Siwela allegedly said he did not have it, thereafter, Moyo reportedly went on a tongue lashing.    

"Moyo was swarmed by a lot of customers and in the process he asked for change from Siwela who in turn said he didn't have it. I believe that didn't no go down well with Moyo who then insulted him saying hamba ngemilomo ekwatukileyo (Go away with your cracked lips)."

"In a fit of rage ail hell broke loose as Siwela picked up an iron bar and hit the now deceased on the forehead and head. Moyo fell down.

"After then he bled profusely. He became unconscious, some vendors tried in vain to pour water on him so as to resuscitate him but their efforts were in vain."

It is reported a Good Samaritan took the unconscious Moyo to Mpilo Hospital where he was certified dead.

A murder case was opened at Mzilikazi Police Station, and the assailant was arrested. .

Frantic efforts to a get a comment from Bulawayo police were fruitless.
