TWO lucky Bulawayo residents yesterday won residential stands worth $4,800 each in Emganwini suburb at the conclusion of the Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC)'s Yakhani/Vaka promotion grand draw.

Promise Letha from Old Lobengula and James Moyo also walked away with two tonnes of cement each for personal use and 30 tonnes each to donate to any school of their choice.

PPC sales and marketing head, Roger Steyn, said the draw was part of the company's way of showing appreciation to their customers.

"We want our customers to know that we appreciate their support. We also want to ensure that we keep the relationship we've with them because their support keeps PPC going forward," he said.

Two other winners from Chipinge and Rusape also won similar prizes.

Letha said he was going to donate his 30 tonnes of cement to Thetshani Primary School in Tsholotsho while Moyo said he would donate to a school in Filabusi.

"We're happy to be chosen as the Yakhani/Vaka grand draw winners. PPC should continue to do this promotion," said a visibly happy Letha.

In March this year, PPC launched a state of the art palletiser and plastic cover wrapping machine. The palletiser, which is automated, is the first of its kind in the country's cement industry and is used to pack cement bags onto a pallet in a neatly designed unit.

PPC Zimbabwe is one of the three major manufacturers in the country. Others are Lafarge and Sino-Zimbabwe - a joint venture between Chinese and Zimbabwean investors.
