A SELF-confessed prostitute from Sauerstown in Bulawayo has been granted a protection order against her boyfriend who allegedly beat her up if she failed to bring money after a night out of soliciting, Chronicle reported.

Pamela Ndlovu applied for the order against George Msimanga who is unemployed.

She told Civil Court magistrate Marylene Mtshina that she met Msimanga while she was "at work" and moved in with him after he promised to take care of her children.

It wasn't mentioned how many children Ndlovu has.

Ndlovu said Msimanga had turned into a "beast" and always became violent if she brought home money he considered too little.

She said Msimanga sometimes caressed her in front of her children and generally treated her like dirt; actions she said were emotionally affecting her children.

"Your Worship, he promised that he was going to take care of me and my children but he is not providing for us.  As a result I'm now doing a job that's not good    and when I don't bring money at home he beats  me up and abuses me in front of the children," Ndlovu said.

She told the court that Msimanga would wait for her money outside a lodge where she would be offering  her services to men adding that he would even chase after her clients if he felt like they didn't pay enough money.

Ndlovu said Msimanga's actions were bad for business as clients ended up avoiding her.

Msimanga told the court that he is aware that Ndlovu is a prostitute and said he lives with Ndlovu and her children in his father's house.

He said his father told him to chase her out of his house adding that he usually takes one dollar or less from Ndlovu's money and uses it to buy cigarettes.

"Your Worship, I'm unemployed and I only do piece jobs here and there and get a few dollars. I usually take a dollar or R5 from her money and give her back her change," Msimanga said.

Magistrate Mtshina told Msimanga to find a job and ordered Ndlovu to leave Msimanga's home by December 31.
