A Mzilikazi woman has been dragged to court for allegedly accusing a former tenant of sleeping with her husband and infecting him with HIV.

Elizabeth Johnson, 50, of Mzilikazi, appeared yesterday before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa facing a charge of criminal insult.

She allegedly accused Constance Musariri, 28, of wrecking her home and bringing a "dreaded disease" into it.

Johnson pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody to January 5.

"Your worship, I didn't say such words to my tenant. In fact she's the one who would tell me that my husband was bringing in different women in my house while I was away at work in Tsholotsho," said Johnson.

"I told both her and my husband to leave my house last week because she was disturbing my marriage," said Johnson.

Musariri said: "She accused me of sleeping with her husband and infecting him with HIV. I've never engaged in such acts. I"m a happily married woman.

"How can I sleep with a man this old? When he goes to the toilet to excrete he doesn't clean himself up well and leaves the toilet a mess your worship," said Musariri.

"I think we've heard enough! We're here to deal with the matter at stake, not to discuss private issues of personal hygiene," the magistrate warned Musariri.

Prosecuting, Kudakwashe Jaravaza told the court that on November 10, Johnson confronted Musariri accusing her of having a love affair with her husband.

He said she accused Musariri of sleeping with her husband while she was at work and infecting him with HIV.
