A 49-YEAR-OLD Nkulumane man has been arraigned before the courts facing allegations of raping his stepdaughter (10) and warning her not to tell anyone.
The juvenile is said to have been turned in to a sex slave after her father regularly had sex with her each morning her mother left for work.
The man appeared before the Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo where he was charged with contravening Section 65 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
However, he was remanded in custody to January 30 for continuation of trial.
"I admit getting into bed with her, but I never raped her," the man said.
"I loved her as my own.
"I do not know where these rape allegations are coming from."
For the State, Mufaro Mageza told the court that from November last year, the man had been allegedly sleeping with his 10-year-old stepdaughter without her consent.
The court also heard that the man made it his daily routine to have sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter each morning when her mother left for work.
The girl told the court that in November her stepfather came into her blankets naked immediately after her mother had left for work and persuaded her to remove her underwear before raping her.
"I did not know what he was doing. All I was told to do was never to tell anyone about what had happened," the girl said.
She said her stepfather regularly came to join her in bed and she was afraid to tell her mother, thinking she would not believe her, she added.
The girl's mother started to notice how disturbed her daughter was and she persuaded her to say what was bothering her.
The girl then revealed that her father was abusing her and the mother made a report to the police.
"I am furious about what my husband did to my daughter," the mother said.
"I never want to set my eyes on him ever again, may he rot behind bars."
