inhuman and traumatic!

These are the words that sum up the horrendous experience a 38-year-old woman went through at the hands of a man who sexually abused her until she passed out after he ambushed her on her way from the fields.

In an interview with B-Metro, the woman from a resettlement area in Matabeleland North said the experience was so traumatic that she contemplated committing suicide.

She said she only stopped thinking about the "cowardly" act after she was counselled by her husband.

"My life will never be the same after the horrific incident when I was repeatedly raped by a man who ambushed me on my way from the fields. Before he repeatedly raped me, the suspect assaulted me several times with a log. As a result of the attack I passed out.

"After I became unconscious he undressed and raped me several times. When I regained consciousness I woke up to find semen dripping from my privates," she said with tears meandering down her cheeks.

The victim who was sobbing throughout the interview said on the fateful day she was walking past the Joshua Mqabuko International Airport on her way from the fields when the alleged sexual predator emerged from a nearby bush, pounced on her.

"He forcibly dragged me to the nearby bush he had emerged from and when I tried to resist him he threatened me with death. Fearing for my life I complied with his orders until he raped me. From that day I am having nightmares and his face keeps crossing my mind, I just hope the police will catch him and make him pay for the injury he inflicted on me. I contemplated committing suicide after the experience but my husband counselled me" she added.

The gruesome incident has reportedly sent shivers down the spines of many women in the area.

"We are living in fear for ourselves and children after this incident. We are appealing to the police to increase patrols in the area as this is not the first incident where women are being abused by these sex vultures who are on the prowl preying on innocent women," said a woman who identified herself as Mrs Mhlanga.

Police sources at Queens Park Police Station confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway.
