04 Aug 2011 at 08:17hrs | Views
All border posts have been on hault due to the ZIMRA Asycuda world new system failure since yesterday
The network has always been up and down but this time its worse and at the same time thy are not allowing manual entries to be done said an eye witness.
The eye witness informed Bulawayo24 that this is the other factor that contributed to the Mozambican customs not allowing trucks to stand on their side due to delays caused by the ZImbabwe side to clear
"It would have been better if they had reverted back to the Asycuda ++ for the new system is heavy for them they can not manage the IT manager continuously gives empty promises" said one clearing agent.
The clearing agent asked our team to check on the Asycuda issue with Zimra. He says Drivers are complaining at Border posts and ZIMRA ports managers are not giving any tangible solution.
This problem comes at a time when Biti said "Reform of tax administration is incomplete without automation, which enhances efficiency of policy and administration of taxes. A key benefit derived from automation is the provision of data to improve decision making, thereby strengthening service delivery."
Sometime last month ZIMRA alleged that it has already started enjoying the rewards of using technology to drive operations. In a statement published recently, the Commissioner General of ZIMRA, Mr Gershem T Pasi, attributed the sterling revenue performance to a number of factors, including automation.
"Strides have been made in the technology front, notably the increased use of the direct banking system and the rolling out of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) World to 13 stations so far, among others," said Mr Pasi.
