Lightning strikes, kills Grade 6 girl in school yard

A grade six pupil at Gampu Primary School in Bulawayo's Mpopoma suburb died today after she was struck by lightning in the school yard.
Teachers at the school said the girl whose family are members to the Apostolic Sect was struck by lighting at 1pm as she made her way to the school dump to dispose of rubbish cleaned from her class.
"They had just knocked off and as per norm started by cleaning their classroom before heading home," the teacher said.
"As the girl made her way to the dump, she was struck by lightning, collapsed and died on the spot."
The girl's family reported to the school after receiving news of the girl's death.
The body had not been collected by the police by 2pm.
