The home of Chronicle editor Mduduzi Mathuthu was nearly broken into on Tuesday 3 January 2015 at night.
Mathuthu said via Twitter: "Attempted break-in at my house last night, thankfully guard WOKE UP this time and 2 intruders fled. Guard said they called each other 'kule'"
This is not the first time Mathuthu's house has been targeted by thieves.
Sometime in June 2014 Mathuthu woke up to find his doors wide open and several items, including a TV set and odd things like meat from the fridge and Mazoe from a cupboard in the kitchen stolen.
