VICE President Phelekezela Mphoko has warned Zanu-PF members in Bulawayo Province against working with expelled party members, saying those who did not want to be part of the party were free to leave.

This comes after reports that some people within the party were still working with former party members linked to ousted former Vice President Joice Mujuru.

"If you don't want to be with us leave us. Instead of wining and dining with the likes of Jabulani Sibanda, you're free to go," said VP Mphoko during the launch of the provincial restructuring programme in Bulawayo on Sunday.

Earlier in the meeting, National Consultative Assembly member Molly Mpofu had said there was no unity in the party alleging that some senior party officials were accusing people of being part of ex-VP Mujuru's cabal.

VP Mphoko also warned party members against communicating internal party affairs to members from other provinces, a development which he said was disturbing the provincial structures.

The party embarked on a restructuring exercise, with Politburo-led teams dispatched in all the 10 provinces to spearhead the process.

The exercise also saw the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association in Bulawayo appointing an interim structure. VP Mphoko urged party members to concentrate on the restructuring exercise, as the party prepares for the 2018 elections.

"We want to strengthen our structures, especially at cell level. We can't talk about cells without numbers. As the exercise continues, we'll physically count the membership to see the exact number of people we have in the party. We don't want a situation whereby our members lose elections. That should be a thing of the past," said VP Mphoko.

He added that proper figures would help the party to know the situation on the ground and come up with strategies to increase its membership.

"If we know the situation on the ground, it gives us ample time to come up with ways of increasing our membership from cell level. After that we'll then issue membership cards depending on the number of members we have," said VP Mphoko.

The party's secretary for legal affairs, Patrick Chinamasa concurred with VP Mphoko, saying party members who were working with expelled members would also be expelled.

"As you know we expelled some senior party members and these include Jabulani Sibanda in Bulawayo, Rugare Gumbo in Midlands, Didymus Mutasa in Manicaland and Temba Mliswa in Mashonaland West Province.

"If we find out that there are party members who are following the path of expelled people, we will also expel them," said Chinamasa.

He urged the province not to provide unsubstantiated figures of their structures, saying only a true picture could help the party map the way forward in obtaining better results in the next elections.

Chinamasa warned party members against settling personal agendas by making false allegations against each other.

Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo and Politburo deputy secretary for women's affairs emphasised the importance of respect among party members.
