PPC Holdings cashier allegedly steals $349 366

A CASHIER with the Pretoria Portland Cement has been dragged to court for allegedly stealing petty cash amounting to $349 366 before raising a fictitious petty cash expenses which he allegedly posted into the company's computer system without supporting documents.

Ndodana Moyo (44) of Tshabalala in Bulawayo who was represented by a lawyer Costa Dube was not asked to plead to the theft charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove. He matter was further remanded for trial.

The court heard that sometime between October 1, 2013 and June 30, Moyo being a cashier and custodian of the petty cash, he stole cash amounting to $349 366 from the petty cash office. To cover up the offence he went to raise fictitious petty cash expenses without any supporting documents.

He then back posted then fake expenses into the company's computer system.

On June 30 2014 Collen Bawn assistant Manager Hector Moyo discovered an expense of $3,250 which was posted on the computer system as payment to the apprentices at Borzem which the accused person failed to produce any supporting documents. Further investigations led to the more discoveries that a total of $349,366 was not accounted for leading to Moyo's arrest.
