BCC require more than $100 million for roads rehabilitation

MORE than $100 million is required by Bulawayo city Council to embark on heavy road rehabilitation works with $17 million needed for central business district roads, Director of Engineering, Simela Dube has indicated.

Dube told guests at a business meeting today that 353 649 kilometre stretch of the roads in the city where in a bad state, while 272 811 km rated fair and 401 904 km is in a good state.

Dube said patching of roads was not idea and recommended re-sealing.

"The Central Business district require $17 820 960, arterial, ($16 094 221 40, major collector ($17 257 613 60), minor collector ($13 902 777 80), less access ($41 657 163 30) and industrial roads need $8 289 421 bring a sum total of $115 021 887 40.

On housing development, Dube said $ 44 000 000 is required for offsite infrastructure requirements to unlock land for development of which Sewer outfalls needs $20.500 000, water ($17 000 000) androads require $ 6. 500 000.
