A 73-year-old Bulawayo man has approached the courts to grant him a protection order against his 33 year old son who allegedly went on a rampage on receiving news that his father wanted to get a new wife.
Oram Phiri the seventh child of Levus Phiri of Magwegwe North was hauled before the courts after he allegedly threatened to destroy a car belonging to his father's girlfriend's if he went ahead with his plan.
Levus' first wife died four years ago.
"Your Worship, I asked my children if I can marry again but they refused and as such they have stopped relating well with me. I stay with Oram and he is always threatening that he will destroy my girlfriend's car if I go ahead and marry her," Phiri said.
"I am also requesting that the court bans him from bringing numerous girlfriends to the house. I also want him to stop fighting with his girlfriend in my presence because when I ask him to stop he doesn't listen, instead he tells me that he will beat my girlfriend as well if I marry her," he added.
Levus was granted a protection order with a Bulawayo magistrate telling Oram to respect his father.
