Trio attacks Makokoba resident leaves him for dead over unclear dispute

Three man from Makokoba in Bulawayo last week attacked a fellow resident with bricks and left him for dead in a dispute over unspecified issue.

This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Tawanda Muchemwa when Tarisai Zengeni (29), Tichaona  Zengeni (29) and Peter Zengeni (24) appeared before him charged with assault which might soon be changed to attempted murder. They pleaded not guilty to the charge and were remanded in custody to a later date for continuation of trial.

The prosecutor Munyonga Kuvarega told the court that on April 4 this year at 12:30 mid night. Another resident heard noise outside her house and came out to check, only to find the three attacking the complainant Fredrick Bendure with bricks.

After the attack one of the assailants called an ambulance which collected the victim. A report made to the police at Mzilikazi police station led to their arrest. Bendure was taken to Mpilo hospital where he received treatment.
