Sean Williams to tie the knot in Bulawayo

Zimbabwe cricket all-rounder Sean Williams is set to tie the knot with his fiancée Chantelle Dexter in Bulawayo this afternoon.

The wedding is scheduled to start in the afternoon and will finish later in the night at Southern Comfort Lodge in the City of Kings and Queens.

The wedding is set to feature three-groomsmen and one bridesmaid. Williams's elder brother Mike will be the best man while Matthew his younger brother and Bucky Buchanan's son completes the groomsmen list.

"This is an exciting moment for us as a couple and our families at large and we are really looking forward to the wedding because; it's been some hectic and crazy moments building up to the day," Williams told the Daily News.

"We have been together for four years now and walking down the aisle is confirmation from both of us that we would like to spend the rest of our lives together."

It seems everything is now falling in place for Williams, who successfully made his return to the national team at this year's Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Williams was controversially dropped from the touring party to Bangladesh at the end of last year after falling out with former coach Steve Mangongo.

Zimbabwe was convincingly beaten during the tour losing the Test series 3-0 and the ODIs 5-0 which ultimately cost Mangongo his job.

Zimbabwe Cricket then appointed Dav Whatmore to be the new coach only a few weeks before the World Cup.

The former Sri Lanka and Pakistan coach immediately recalled Williams to the national team for the World Cup.  

Although Zimbabwe failed to reach the last eight stage of the competition, Williams was the team's second highest run scorer with 339 runs at an average of 26.50 in six innings.

He was also the team's second highest wicket-taker with seven from six innings at an average of 40.85.          

The 28-year-old Matabeleland Tuskers player said he would be relocating to Harare a couple of weeks after the wedding to make himself fully available for the national team.

"I'm fully available for my country now and moving to Harare will ensure that I don't miss any practice sessions but I would still want to be a big part of my franchise (Tuskers) when it comes to domestic cricket," he said.

"Obviously we (national team) want to do a lot better than we did at the World Cup. Things are beginning to shape up and all we need is to remain as unit for as long as it takes."

With the departure of former Test captain Brendan Taylor to England, Williams did not hide his intentions to take over as the next longer version skipper.

"I'm hoping so, any form of responsibility is always a good thing and I'm not afraid to step in the big shoes," he said.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Cricket spokesperson, Lovemore Banda has confirmed dialogue with the Pakistan Cricket Board for a possible tour of the Asian side next month.

The locals are reportedly scheduled to tour Pakistan for One Day International games next month.

"Nothing has been finalised yet but ZC and the PCB are closing to making a deal," said Banda.

Zimbabwe will become the first Test playing nation to tour Pakistan since 2009 owing to security concerns in Pakistan.

Grant Flower, former Zimbabwe batting coach is currently occupying the same position with the Pakistan national cricket team.
